Thank you for your email of 4th August 2002.

The charity, "To Russia With Love", is very active and we have a direct involvement in the lives of the 150 children in Khotylyovo orphanage in Western Russia.

Khotylyovo We employ Irish and Russian staff and have a sponsor family for each child. This year these families each sent us Euro 80 for the purchase of clothes and shoes. They also undertake to write a letter three times per year and send Christmas gifts to their children.

Klimova and Starodub In addition, we are helping two other orphanages, Klimova and Starodub, which are 150 miles from Khotylyovo.

Most of these children have sponsor families who give Euro 150 per year. We send money to the orphanage directors for the purchase of clothes and shoes for all the children for the summer and winter.

Directors of "To Russia with Love" regularly visit these orphanages. Receipts are given to us for all purchases.

I have a group of 50 sponsors who write to c 8 children once per year in Klimova and Starodub as not every sponsor wishes to write letters.

Sponsorship If you or your fiancée wish to sponsor a child please inform me whether you would like to sponsor a child from Khotylyovo (where I have a short waiting list) or from one of the other two orphanages.

We do not have sponsor families for all the children in Klimova and Starodub.
